Ray Fitzpatrick

I am Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Oxford. Much of my research over 30 years has focused on patients’ and users’ perspectives on health and their views about care and outcomes received from services.

My first formal role in supporting user involvement was when, as a member of council for the Medical Research Council (MRC), I set up and chaired a Consumer Liaison Group to provide public and user feedback on the work of MRC.

I am National Programme Director for the National Institute for Health Research, Health Services & Delivery Research and have been working with colleagues in INVOLVE to launch and fund a research programme in patient and public involvement in health research.
