Abstract:
This paper describes the development of involvement in research and the shift from a consumerist approach to a more democratic model. It discusses the criticisms of involvement and the nature of evidence. It concludes that working in this way requires the researcher to personally address power differences and embrace the challenges to their role as a researcher.
