Abstract:
The authors identify a need for a more critical and consistent assessment of what constitutes quality involvement. However, they also recognise that there are many different ways of defining quality and that ideas about quality involvement are highly subjective.
They have reviewed a range of philosophical and social theories of power and empowerment to develop a model of quality involvement. They have turned this into a questionnaire which they hope could be used by service users and researchers to reflect and report on their experiences. The questionnaire asks questions about the service user's views of their involvement experience and the research context.
