Putting it into Practice
Abstract:
This report summarises the findings from an evaluation of the training provided by the COMPASS Collaborative, a National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) funded initiative, to researchers working in palliative care. The evaluation was based on interviews with ten participants in the class, at least 12 months after they had finished the training. The aim was to find out what difference the training had made to their practice, which aspects of the training had proved most useful, and whether the classes could have been improved in any way. A key factor in the success of the classes was their delivery by skilled and experienced service users. The report offers a series of recommendations for delivery of training in consumer involvement to researchers in future.
