Abstract: This study aimed to explore what carers of people with long-term conditions think about their role and whether they struggle to identify themselves as ‘carers’ and whether they access support. The study was designed collaboratively with a carer, who identified the need for this research and is a co-author. A steering group of people with lived experience of caring were also consulted during the study. They were consulted on written materials, recruitment strategies and interview questions.
